where has the time gone

Can't believe it has been almost two months since posting. Went to Boyne Mich. with our fanily for MArch break. I took my sewing machine and got some great buys at Joanne's fabrics. The weather was terrific.
Have been layed up with polymyalgia and getting use to prednisone, what a bummer. It is mainly in my upper arms and so makes sewing, cutting & ironing a little difficult. This past week I have been pacing myself and getting back in my domain. I have my grandon Matthew's quilt to finish for his 1st birthday ,May 2nd. And am in a round robin with 5 others so that is always a challenge.
Our church just had there annual quilt show and I put three quilts in. It was a great success and beautiful with the quilts hung all around the upper level.
I am in a quilt retreat May 6,7,&8. Making a hockey quilt for my grandson ,Liam, crazy about hockey. HAve to fussy cut 17 ,91/2 in. blocks out,got the great fabric from Pat's ,Country Quilter's in Sudbury, I love it. My friend Kathie from Sudbury is going with me and sister,so will have a great ol' time.
Well, the sun is shining  and a walk in it looks good. Keep smiling and happy quilting.

beautiful sunrise

I was up very early and saw the most beautiful sunset, many shades of pink. I took  a picture and with the outline of the trees that looked black  in front of it , would make a beautiful landscape picture. My hubby went skiing all day yesterday,so I did some spring cleaning. Boy, that feels good. A few before and after of my sewing room, looking good.

special little quilt corner

after

I am working on an old quilt my son has had of his Grandmother's and needs repairs. I need to replace some of the worn strips and put a new backing on, flannel of course.
Looks like a rather dull day so I will get started.

Wow, where have I been

Well, still organizing my sewing room. One very big job and it is coming. I have been laid up the last month with polymyalgia, very painful ,so no sewing or much of anything. On prednisone and getting back to normal and ready to hit the machine. I made belts and swords like the Power Rangers for my 3 grandsons, so that was my first job . I missed a very successful community workshop day which was sad. They completed 9 quilts.  I am busy getting the newsletter writtenand  ready to email. Our Runaway quilter's are doing a round robin which I am excited about. There are six of us and I am using a panel that I have had and didn't want to make into a wall hanging. We have had snow and more snow the last four days. The sun is shining and looks cheery outside. Happy quilting !

making headway

What a gorgeous day today, the sun is shining brightly. Had a nice visit with my sister and her husband on the weekend. She wants to make a scrappy quilt ,so sent home my bag of scrapes with her. My room is coming, boy what a grand undertaking. I will be so please when it is done. Amazing the pile of fabric I don't want and wondered why I bought it at the time. Yesterday I was  going thru all my fat quarters and have all my landscape fabric grouped togther. I am getting ready to create my pictures. You know how you get all these ideas in one's head and they stay there!! well, I am hoping they get put into wall hangings.
Our guild had a member as our guest and she is a wonderful speaker. She spoke on,"Piece Ideas, Cloth Contained and Preserves". She used words like, unity,
rhythm, sense of flow, pattern, order, mood  etc. It was most interesting and I felt I got a lot out of it.She is also a master weaver besides a very talented quilter.
My grandson went into surgery today and I haven't head from Shari as yet. He was getting his adenoids removed again. Had it done at 18months and they feel there is still some there. I thought I would have heard by know, so sitting by the phone.
Back down to my room ,still have all my cards stuff to do ,so that will be a BIG job. I haven't been doing much quilting as a result of my reno. Soon, real soon.

time to cuddle under one's quilt

Haven't been very good at blogging lately. It is 5am and what better time to write. It is very cool outside and nice to have a wood burning stove and a quilt to warm one's body and soul. I have been busy revamping my sewing room. I took pictures of the before and will of the after ,if I ever get there. What a job? It is amazing what one accummulates over the years and years of sewing ,quilting and crafts. But it feels so good and it will be so wondeful to have it done. I bought  some wallpaper boarder with a sewing theme while on Manitoulin with the intentions of using it up there in my room, so am going to get it on the wall here. That will be a fresh start right there. I have a stack of panels that I obviously have been collecting for years. With our guild challenge of finishing our UFO's , I have my work cut out for me.  THat was one of my NY's resolution also. I have a few quilt's that need boarders on and I just don't seem to get there. The Amish lady that does my hand quilting will also put those on for me,so am getting my fabric together and sending them off. Hooray!! I have come to the conclusion that I enjoy constructing  the middle of a quilt and get hung up on the outsides and have now got that covered. Sometimes life is so simlpe.I am going to get into a epsom salt bath and soak and who knows ,may get another wink of sleep after and head down to my room.

2011 a new year to look forward to, new projects, new recipes, new fabric, the list goes on

What a wonderful Christmas we had with my sister and great New Year's eve with two nursing classmates, how much better could it get. I am sitting here looking  at the snow falling and the sun shining thru. There is nothing prettier than the trees decorated with the fluffy white snow. I have a calender above me with Jan. picture which is a cardinal snuggled in a pine tree and it is snowing. How I would like to make that into a wall handing. Maybe!! Bought fabric at the Needle Box to make my last grandson a quilt for his 1st birthday. Linda just got it in, big squares with animal heads and the colours acent colours are the richest blue, lime green and a wiggly stripe.
One of my NY's resolution it to tackle my sewing room, the one that a hurricane swept thru.It will be a big job,but one very over due. Saw in a book many wonderful ideas to orgainize such a room. I have a new sewing machine table coming  and have to have a place for it. I have so many UFO's that I am hoping this new vitalize room will let me settle in accomplish  much in this year  of 2011. Well, duty calls and one must start sometime and that time is now.
