Let it snow ,let it snow

How beautiful is that? That is taken off our deck ,loooking towards the bay. There is nothing more beautiful than the fallen snow on the branches.Time for a winter landscape, after Christmas.
Just finished two more mug organizers, pockets on the outside and inside and velcroed around  the handle. Also nine  rice packs that you heat in the microwave for a sore neck or tummy for my grandchildren and shiatsu therapists boys.  Have a few runners to complete and then some Christmas baking, stolen and whole wheat bread.
Our daughter Shari is getting married on Sunday,so excited about that.I just have to hem one grandson's pants and show up.We are very happy for her.
Merry Christmas to all and looking forward to a great year of quilting in 2013.

Sewing up a storm

Finished my landscape that I took the course in St. Jacobs. Love doing this type of qyuilting. Have a winter one that I am starting with birches. Also framed the Zen quilting I did which is like doodling when you are on the phone but doing it on your machine. It takes a lot of consentration, not as easy as I thought it would be. This  is my small one and I added the red paint to it for a little contrast.
Finishing my tea pot table runner and working on  my Christmas cards. HAve the fabric  ready to put on the cards and then do the verse. Must do my block got the guild
I just can't tell you how great it is to be in my sewing room again. I have so many things I want to do and lots of UFO's waiting for me.
We are having our Christmas guild meeting Thurs. and having coupon capers. I introduced this to them and this is our third year. The gals really do enjoy it and more and more hand made gifts show up each year. I do hope I am lucky to win at least one item.
Well, back to the sewing room. These are the flood lights outside my sewing room window so they shine down on me. Not a bad sight to see.

Where did November go????/

HAd a good quilt time .We learned to make  a cover with pockets that goes over a mug. Making lots for Christmas gifts for, grandkids, quilting friends and daughters. Will get a picture on when finished.
This is my Christmas row houses. I found this holiday pillow blog that went from Nov.21 to the 30. Each day there were about 10 blogs that you went inot to see their pillows. Some  madew runners and wall hangings as I did. I so enjoyed designing this and want to make more and one that isn't Christmas.
Here are two of my runners, the green one is one I am making ,using a number in different fabrics into Christmas gifts. The red and black one is for my dining room and is called "Hidden Wells". The pattern camae from Stashbusters and no way am I goingto make a quilt of this pattern. Love the backing of silver spoons. Still have more of that fabric, I love it.

Here is my tea cup fabric. I am makinf a table runner with two other panels of the group. Left it at a friends in Sudbury, so hoping to get it so I can finish it for Christmas. Beautiful fabric and all the complimentary fabrics. Will post the finished project at a later date.

Not very good pictures but this is the king size quiltI am making for our bed. What job. Just have anothe two rows and done the top. Making another top on the reverse and have it all planned out. Will have the Amish hand quilt it. The large squares have good in them and I wish I had chosen something else for the small star. I added the green because our room is painted green.
Well that is me updated. Working on a landscape . Went to St. Jacobs and took a landcape class. Learned lots and hope this gets my juices flowing to do many more. These are what I really enjoy. That's it for now. Feeling so much more like myself, finally, been an awful long two years and looking forward to next year as it is surely to be my year.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my US friends and Family

Wow, what great weather we are having. I have washed all my windows that should have been done ages ago. Laundry out on the line ,comes in fresh and no ironing, that I like.
I have been following a blog shop hop and it is so interesting. There are about 8 to view each day. They are all doing a row house pillow ,with some making it a runner or wall hanging. I have one started and hope to make a few. I know Jackie, pictures. I am working on it, I have to get another memory stick just for my blog.
Great sale for black Friday at Threads that Bind in Maxwell, my favourtite quilt store. They are having 40% off reg priced fabric and do they have lovely fabric. Hold back ,Diane ,hold back.
My king size quilt is just about done, top. Have to enquire about the Amish close by quilting it. I am planning on putting a spring backing on so I can reverse it for the spring and summer months.
Have a great day and enjoy this weather as colder temps are coming on the weekend.

October gone

Had a great time in Burlington at the fibre arts show. Got so many ideas  and so many talented people, just amasing.  Off tomorrow, Fri. to the shop hop in Kitchener, St. jacobs, Shakespeare and Stradford with fellow quilters. We went to the spring one and we left a dint in the stores. Side stop at Dorking, Amish fabric store , New Hamburg quilt store and Lens Mills, rather a full day. I have a few things I am looking for and  few other things may jump into my hand.
Just joined stashbusters and they are all doing "hidden wells, made a table runner for myself. Today at quilt time ,Jo showed us "hidden bobbins", so made two blocks and have another new block idea.
I have 4 rows of my king quilt for our bed done. It is a lot of sewing and pinning . Trying to do a row every few days. Can't wait to get it done. Haven't decided what  want to put on the back. This side is more fall and I want to make it spring/summer on the back.
Playing with Zen quilting, which is like doddling in black on a quilt block. I will post a few of the above when I ge them inot my computer.
Well, off to try my hand at bingo with a friend. Hope I win  one game.

Where did the sun go?????

Love these pictures with sun shining and a storm lurking in the distance. Was a beautiful day yesterday and I went to a pot luck lunch in Mt. Forest with fellow quilters. It was 19 degrees and amrvelous. Stopped by" new to me "fabric shop and bought a fat quarter with tea cups and a new panel just in with 24 complimentary fabrics, now come on !!! Will post when completed.
Got my 128 rectangles with 4 corner squares done, hurray,on to sewing the blocks of my king size quilt.
Raining and overcast so a good day to settle done to some serious sewing /quilting. And thinking as our president's challenge in our guild is "the message is in the medium". Glad I have a year to think this one over.
Heading to my hot tub with my coffee to welcome my day.

back on track

Well, here I am , back on track, finally. Back quilting, sewing, thinking, dreaming  and it feels so good. Working now on a king size quilt for our new bed. I am sewing 128 -31/2 by 9 in rectangles and sewing a square on each corner, boring but necessary. Made a cute Halloween table runner with  a few gals at my house on my 65th birthday. We had a ball and the outcome was great. Also been quilting rag bags and little blankets that have a horse some where on them. They are somewhere in the US, at hosre jumping shows(dressage) and hoping they are selling.
I am going thru the pictures I have taken over the last years of flowers ,trees, clouds, sunsets and hoping to get them into wallhangings that I have hoped to accomplish for a long time. I guess one knows when it is time to venture into an avenue you have thought about for a long time. And the last few years I have certainly had time to think.
Went to a wonderful quilt show in Kincardin yesterday and it was fabulous. 85 in their guild and they did an amazing job, one of the best I have attended. The friends I went with got lots of ideas if we want to put a quilt show on.

A dreary day and a good one to do a little of that boring sewing.  And maybe start my gift for our coupon capers.

Where has the time gone!!!

How times flies when you aren't up to one's usual.  Hope everyone had a great Canada Day. Meaford celebrated in style.Lots of goings on everywhere. We had friends and that made my weekend.
I am getting back into the living as I am venturing more and more into my sewing room. Made a cute rag quilt for our grand niece from Iqaluit and working on rag bags that I want to sell. And starting a king size quilt for our new king bed. It is a easy pattern so should work up fast. Two other gals and I are making the same pattern ,theirs are queens. Also sewing cutains for our trailer as the ones in their are very ugly and it will make it our own. Still have tons of UFO's that need attending , that will come.
I am out in the garden tending to my many flowers gardens and veggie gardens. W are trying to edge them all this year and that is a big job but looks so nice.
Got back going to a "sit& stitch " group first and third Tues. mornings. That put a smile on my face. Sure missed getting out  and about for so long. There is nothing like a group of women to life your spirits.
Well, maybe I will have some picture soon. Have a great day.

Snow and more snow

Is it snowing outside my window or what!!  Can't hardly see our neighbours. We have 3to4 inches and it is still coming. Our son is here for skiing and he wanted powder and he got it. Went for my shiatsu treatment today and it was wonderful. Have to venture out for my daily walk and am a little hesitant as we are on a country road and I may not be seen, it is that thick. Found my granddaughter'a blue fairy wallhanging that needs thread painting and completion. I think as the weeks go by  I will be finding all kinds of projects that have been calling  waiting for me to get well enough to complete. Anxious and thrilled to be putting these tasks to rest and see what new projects I can tackle. I will end today with this quote: "tough times never last, tough people do."

Another day

Well, I am walking and today did it all by myself. My husband and I have been walking slowly for the last week which he thinks is great as I use to walk at a gallop. I 'm not going far but it is a start and feels so good. I am trimming my grandson's quilt and getting ready to put on the binding and then going to tackle finishing a wallhanging that I did in a workshop over a year ago with Fujiki, an oriental work. Also playing with a new technique with my cards. And organizing my great sewing room as it has been the dumping ground for the last year . Amazing how mush was put in there without you even knowing it. The sun is shinnig and so am I.

Almost a year gone by and it wasn't fun

Can't believe a year has passed me by  and have done no quilting ,cards knitting. Time to dust off the sewing maching ,the stamps and the knitting needles and get down to some serious doings. As most of you know it has been a year of poor health with lyme, MCS, gout, to name a few. Put I am finally feeling like the ol' Diane . Made a quilt for my youngest grandson last Spring and just couldn't manage quilting it. Had an Amish lady hand quilt it this winter and I have the huge job of binding it. Just kidding. Will get this in the working and get it sent out west with a pillow case to go with it. I have so much to get caught up on. Being a couch potato for a year isn't the greatest of hobbies. So glad I am about to bannish that . I have a wealth of quilts waiting for me to attack and with open arms but in moderation. I still have me to look after and through much councelling have learned I am important and have to look after me .
It is a beaufitful, bright ,sunny day and I am going to take advantage of that right now with alittle walk down my road. It has to open up to me once again. Have a great  Family Day.
